How to Choose the Best Jewellery for Your Skin Undertone
How do we select the best jewellery for our skin undertone. We are diverse in every aspect so it comes as no surprise that different colours, fabrics and styles suit people differently. This concept is true for jewellery too! Depending on your skin undertone different metals and colours used in jewellery manufacturing will compliment your skin differently.
Yellow gold looks great on warmer undertones while silver and white gold suit cooler undertones really well. Rose gold works well with both tones!
At Katmeleon Jewellery we manufacture jewellery using metals that mimic these colours at an affordable price. Bronze and brass imitate the yellow gold look and silver is, well, silver. Our copper jewellery mimics the versatile rose gold colour.
What colour is my skin undertone?
There are many different methods to finding the colour of the tones in your skin. We have chosen a modern method which can produce accurate results for the most diverse skin colours. This method works for everyone.
Before you begin. Make sure your camera white balance is set to natural light, if you have that option available, and you have removed any foundation or makeup. If you are using your smartphone camera you can select the white background using your finger and the phone should make the necessary adjustments for you automatically (even easier!).
Photograph yourself in a well-lit room, across from a window works best for natural light, in front of a white background. You can use your white linen at home as a backdrop.
Once you have your image have a very good look at your skin. Don't forget to bask in your own natural beauty!
There is a painter's technique which can help you if your undertone is not immediately making itself apparent. Blur your vision slightly and focus on what kind of colours you see. Do you see a blueish tint? A warm glow? A yellow tone?
Your undertone will range from cool (blue and green) to warm (red and yellow). If you feel like you have a mixture of both cool and warm tones then you have a neutral undertone.
Well done! Now you know your skin's undertone. You now have a piece of vital information about your look which will help you find all kinds of things that might suit you best.
What else do I need to know?
All the information above can also be applied to your eye and hair colour. A warmer brunette hair colour will pair well with warm coloured jewellery while a cool black hair colour will look great with silvers and white golds.
All this being said, at the end of the day what matters most is that you are happy with your jewellery, feel it reflects your personality best and makes you feel confident with how you feel and look. You can obsess over colour theory to find your perfect match in colours and metals but if you don't carry what you wear with confidence then it won't feel right. Ultimately you need to do you. These are purely tips and suggestions which may help in bringing out the confident you.
As mentioned above yellow gold or bronze will suit skin with warm undertones, white gold, brass or silver will work well with cooler undertones and rose gold or copper will look great on either undertones. Now that you know a little more about yourself have a look at our jewellery below.
